2. Cosmetic Grade Curcumin Source
Turmeric (Latin name: Curcuma longa) is a perennial herb of the ginger family. Turmeric contains volatile oils, curcuminoids, resins, polypeptides, fats, alkaloids and other chemical components. Curcumin is its main active substance; the curcumin content in turmeric is about 3% to 6%. In Chinese prescriptions, turmeric has always been used as a medicinal and edible material. - Anti-aging and Sun Protection
Curcumin’s molecular structure contains a diketone structure, which is a high-level conjugated planar molecule, and is a rare natural pigment with β-diketone structure in nature. Additionally, curcumin has abilities to resist oxidation, scavenge free radicals, and absorb ultraviolet rays. Therefore, curcumin is a natural cosmetic ingredient for anti-aging and sun protection.
- Skin Whitening
Curcumin contains a polyphenol structure, and its skin whitening effect is the same as that of other plant polyphenols. Therefore, it can greatly inhibit tyrosinase, and reduce its activity.
